Outdoor Activities for the Mind
Welcome to Tracks & Dales, where we believe in the power of the Great Outdoors to transform mental health. Whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a reset, we're here to offer free support across Cumbria, North Lancashire, and the Yorkshire Dales. Our tailored outdoor activities help you reconnect with nature, set personal goals, and explore the endless possibilities for a healthier mindset—all in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
Meet James
Founded by James, Tracks & Dales was inspired by his two golden retrievers (Tracker & Dale) and his passion for the outdoors. Our goal is to make outdoor activities accessible to anyone seeking mental health support. We understand how daunting it can be to take that first step, so we create a welcoming space with no pressure or expectations—just the opportunity to find joy, peace, and inspiration in nature.
Our Mission
No formal diagnosis is needed to join us. We believe in the power of early intervention and offer individualised support plans—whether it’s a one-off adventure or regular trips throughout the year. Equipment and travel expenses can be provided based on your needs. Our focus is on giving you the tools to improve your mental health, build resilience, and boost your confidence through nature-based activities.
Experience the Healing Power of Nature
At Tracks & Dales, we are a community interest group situated between the breathtaking landscapes of the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales, dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with mental health. Through our unique outdoor programs, we take participants into tranquil, rural environments to engage in activities that foster teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, and improved communication. Our mission is to build resilience and equip individuals with the tools they need to face life’s challenges.
Mental health struggles can leave people feeling isolated and disconnected. We are here to change that. By integrating positive mental health practices into everyday life, we empower people to better understand, address, and talk openly about their mental health through the therapeutic power of physical activity in nature. Our program also focuses on improving mental health literacy and reducing stigma, so participants feel confident in managing their mental well-being.
We believe in the importance of early intervention for quicker recovery and long-term positive outcomes. Through our outdoor activities, we create a safe and supportive space where individuals can share their experiences, learn new coping strategies, and open up about their emotions.
Our sessions are led by skilled professionals and individuals with lived experience, ensuring a compassionate, people-centered approach. By involving our participants in the design of our programs, we create lasting, impactful experiences that help them regain confidence and thrive.
